Irumbuth Thottam - Moview (Malaysian Tamil Movies)

This Malaysian Tamil or Indian-based movie is currently airing in Malaysian cinemas. Despite the lack of support from viewers, this movie is actually doing quite well. The promotional team even gave out free tickets to promote the movie in Kuantan.

Let’s review this movie. It features classic actors such as Irfan Zaini and Loga Varman, along with the newly debuted TikTok influencer Marie Dashani Matthews. A few other well-known actors also make cameo appearances.

Good

• This movie has a few twists that keep the storyline moving. However, there are so many twists that it can become confusing at times.
• The final twist, who was murdered is the best but it ended quickly. If you didn't focus, you might miss that part. That's how quick it is.
• The estate setting looks amazingly beautiful and gives the movie a classic atmosphere.
• The movie is quite thrilling. However, it would have been more interesting if there had been some fight scenes, a stronger villain appearance, or something similar. The story mainly focuses on investigation, but it is still enjoyable.

Bad

• Actors such as Irfan and Dashani are good-looking, but can they really act? At times, their performances rely too much on passive facial expressions rather than strong emotional delivery.
• The dialogue in Malaysian movies is still quite formal and does not always match the scenes. Do Malaysians really speak this formally in real life? This is especially noticeable in the unnecessary love story, where Janani (Dashani) tries to stop Irfan, the hero, from arresting her fiancé. Was this dialogue and stopping scene really necessary?
• The unwanted love story does not really contribute much to the development of the main storyline and does not feel properly built into the scenes.
• There are also some religious scenes and a grandfather scene that do not seem to match Malaysian Indian sentiments. In my opinion, these scenes could simply have been avoided because they feel unnecessary.
• The grandfather scenes are particularly confusing. Is the movie trying to portray or question family bonding? I’m not really sure what the intention was.

Can you watch this movie in the theatre? Yes, you can.

Apart from the religious elements, what appears to be a possible "love jihad" theme, and the confusing grandfather scenes, the movie is still worth watching in the theatre.

The investigation and twists keep the movie moving, while the beautiful estate setting adds a classic atmosphere. Although there are several confusing elements and some unnecessary scenes, the movie is still entertaining enough for a theatre experience.
