TEACHER'S HELP: KSSR- ENGLISH READING YEAR 4 LESSON PLAN

LESSON PLAN

Class  : Year 4 Jaya.
Enrolment: 29 pupils

Theme    : World of Knowledge
Topic  : Unit 7: Blogging (Three Billy Goats)
Focused Skill: Reading
Integrated Skills: Writing, Listening and Speaking

Content Standard   : 2.2 By the end of the 6- year primary schooling, pupils will be able to demonstrate understanding of a variety linear and non-linear texts in the form of print and non-print materials using a range of strategies to construct meaning.

Learning Standard : 2.2.2 Able to read and understand phrases and sentences from.
a)    Linear texts.

Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
                                    i. read at least four sentences in the given text with correct pronunciation with guidance.
                                    ii. perform Reader’s Theatre with correct pronunciation and intonation.
                                  
Cross-curricular Elements (EMK):   Creative and Innovation. Reader’s Theatre. Pupils need to act while reading the dialogue script.
Teaching-learning resources: A big book, a cloth and dialogue scripts.
Moral Values:  Do not be greedy: Found in the story.

Induction Set
(3 mins)          
1.Teacher hides the big book behind the cloth.
2. Teacher removes the cloth slowly.
3. Pupils are explained about the cover page of the book.
4. Pupils guess the title of the story.
Presentation
(20 mins)
- Simple sentences.
-The story.      
1. Pupils sit in a semi-circle.
2. Teacher tells a story using the big book.
3. After the story telling, pupils read certain sentences in the book.
Practice
(15 mins)        
- Simple sentences.
-The story       
1.Pupils are divided into groups.
2. Pupils are provided with Reader’s Theatre dialogue scripts.
3. Pupils practice to read the script with correct pronunciation and intonation in their group.
Production
(20 mins)
- Simple sentences.
-The story.      
1.  Pupils perform Reader’s Theatre according to the groups.
2.  The teacher observes them and corrects them if there is any mistake in their reading.
Closure
(2 Mins)         
-Recall the lesson       

1.  Certain pupils retell the story.
